Caustic Potash or potassium hydroxide (KOH) is a very common industrial chemical known for its strong basic nature which makes it a suitable chemical for various niche applications. One of the major uses of caustic potash is as a cleaning and sanitizer agents in wineries where it is primarily used for cleaning the thin layers of yeast and bacteria. Since this is strong basic compound it attacks acidic wine organisms in order to sanitize. Caustic Potash is predominantly used in soap production, as alkaline in batteries, and also in paints and varnish.
